What to expect?

Each Academy student is offered a placement with a UCB team of their choice, and could be involved in:

• Learning all that goes on behind the scenes at a national Christian broadcaster – everything from producing a radio show to filming life-changing stories.

• Developing devotionals that are read by hundreds of thousands of people, or creating content for social media platforms.

• Growing strong admin and organisation skills which can be used in lots of different environments.

In addition, UCB Academy students are embedded into UCB’s culture and have opportunities to attend sessions with inspirational leaders, represent UCB at national events, and gain a deeper understanding into media, mission, and the power of God’s Word to change lives. Students will also receive a qualification in leadership* (ILM).

FAQs

Below are regular questions that are often asked about the Media Programme. If there is a question that you cannot find here, get in contact with us and we'd be happy to help you. Contact Us.

It’s ‘learning in a working environment’ – so it’s not school, it’s not college and it’s not a university.

The Media Training Programme is a combination of taught theory (by specialists from within the media industry and also from within UCB – some in-person, some on-line and some watching pre-recorded video. There are various assignments for you to complete.

The Kingdom Academy is ‘learning in a working environment’ – so it’s not school, it’s not college and it’s not a university. However, if you complete the training assignments, you will achieve two Certificates:

  • The Certificate in Modern Media (accredited by TRACS through Visible Christian College, which is a University based in Memphis in America.)
  • A Certificate in Leadership and Management is earned (which is accredited by the UK Institute of Leadership and Management.)

As with most training courses, there is no job at the end.  However, with the combination of taught theory and ‘learning within a working environment’, it could greatly improve your chances of employment (This may be within UCB if there is a job vacancy or some freelance work).

Assuming you complete all the assignments, you’ll gain the Certificate in Management (accredited by the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM)) and the Certificate in Modern Media (by TRACS an American accreditation body)

10 with accommodation, but up to 15 with others living off-site .

Yes, a reduction of £1,000 for the September 2025 start. £500 for January 2026 start. (As this is only a small contribution built into the overall Fee; the key cost is for the tuition.)

Yes, we have a kitchen for you to use, with cupboards, fridge and freezer for your own food.

No, but you’ll be given the opportunity to choose three placements; and, depending how your interview goes, you’ll be offered one of these placements.

We hope that this won’t happen, but if, depending on the situation/reason, we’ll support you through this process. We do have Training Terms and Conditions, so we’ll need to follow this.

We have a Student Accommodation Block in the grounds of our Broadcasting Centre – where, depending on the numbers of males and females, you’ll either be in there in single rooms or in the main building.

Most rooms in the main building are single rooms, but we do have a few ‘shared’ rooms where the cost is slightly reduced. But not much because the fee for accommodation is actually only a small contribution built into the overall Fee. (The key cost is for the tuition.)

Reduced by £500 for Sept 2025 and £250 for January 2026.
